Disney Snow Globes are probably the most popular snow globes to collect. What makes these snow globes so popular and sought after?
Disney has created scores of characters over they years, beginning with Mickey Mouse and adding more popular friends through the years. Besides the original Disney characters, they have immortalized many fairy tale characters through the movies that have been produced and remain popular from generation to generation.
It would probably be hard to find anyone (especially those who have children) who haven’t heard of Mickey Mouse or most of Mickey’s friends like Minnie Mouse, Pluto, Donald Duck and others.
Some of the more popular fairy tales that have been brought to life in beautiful animated movies include Cinderella, Snow White, Beauty and the Beast and others. Who doesn’t love those stories?
Collecting snow globes is a great way to capture your favorite characters in a beautiful setting. The fanciful lure of snow globes makes these characters come to life in a never ending fantasy of swirling snow and beauty.

Pflatzgraff Snow Globes

The nearly 200 year old Pfaltzgraff Company grew from a small pottery shop that produced stoneware crocks and flower pots into a well known designer and marketer of dinnerware, glassware, ceramic accessories, giftware and other products.

The Pfaltzgraff family immigrated to York County, Pennsylvania in the early 1800’s and set up a small potter’s wheel and kiln on their homestead to make salt-glazed crocks for storing and preserving food. Their first market area was defined as to be “as far as you can get with a horse and wagon and then back again in a day”. Today you can find Pfaltzgraff products in department, gift and specialty stores from coast to coast.

One of the less known Pfaltzgraff products are their beautiful snow globes. These globes match many of their pattern lines and make great collectibles and gifts for those of us who love Pfaltzgraff. If you’re looking for a unique collectible or gift, check out the selection of Pfaltzgraff Snow Globes.

The Fascination of Snow Globes

August 23rd, 2008 by darlkay52

Snow Globes are like a little window into another world. When we look into a snow globe, the rest of the world recedes and we are drawn into the peaceful quiet scene of winter snow drifting down to blanket the world in white. It’s nearly impossible to watch that drifting snow and not be drawn into the scene. It is probably due to this fascination that many people have made a hobby out of collecting snow globes. Snow Globes range from corny and cheap to ornate and whimsical. Some play music and rotate, and others contain scenes from popular places or familiar characters. it is that huge variety that makes them so fascinating and fun to collect.

Snow Globes have only been around since the mid to late 1800’s. It is thought that the first snow globes were produced in France and were sold to tourists at the Eiffel Tower. A little Eiffel Tower encased a a glass ball of water with snow falling over it proved to be a very popular item. Their popularity soon spread across the world and now snowglobes are made with just about anything imaginable in them.

If you want to start a collection of snow globes, you might want to consider what types of globes you will want to collect. There are many brand names, such as Disney, that feature enough snow globes that a person could just collect that brand and have a huge variety to choose from. Other ideas for collecting snow globes might be to collect globes of famous places or buildings, certain animals or certain types of scenes. You might just opt to collect any snow globes that catch your fancy and add some whimsy to your life.
